It’s no secret that the downtown Metro Manila never sleeps. The city stays awake with all sorts of activities throughout the day. Just like the city, you may find yourself awake past the usual bedtime, credits to your growling stomach. If instant noodles just aren’t your thing and you’d like some warm food to comfort your empty tummy ( and your soul), you can hit any one of these late night supper spots.

1. North Park Noodle House

North Park is a chain of Chinoy comfort food restaurants all over the city. They’re open 24 hours a day every day. You’ll definitely want to drop by here if you have a craving for Chinese food. Some of their most popular items include Braised Noodles with Double Pork Ribs ( P248), North Park Superior Congee ( P348), and Fried rice Souffle with sauce (P 258). Not to forget their whole range of delicious Dim Sum that’s sure to curb your late night cravings.

2. Recovery Food

If you’ve had one too many beers and need something to calm your tummy down, head to Recovery Food. Being open 24H also means you can head there anytime of the day for comfort food. The eatery serves up familiar and simple fare, something your Lola might whip up when you visit her on the weekends. There’s the Hey Jude’s Paksig (P165 – P260) with Sarangani Bangus Belly cooked in vinegar broth served with rice and the Lecheng Kawali (P195-P285) which is Lechon on garlic rice.

3. Beni’s Falafel

If you’re a vegan, vegetarian or just don’t feel like having meat, Beni’f Falafel is a great option. They are located in A.Venue Mall and serves up various falafel creations, and really good hummus. Both of these are made with mashed chickpea, which is low in fat, high in proteins and very healthy. You can have Beni’s Falafel sandwich (P205) which is served with hummus, salad and tahini sauce. There’s also the Shakshuka (P285) which is stewed tomatoes with eggs served with Pita bread, and vegan Schnitzel (P285).

4. Filling Station

Burger, fries, and everything nice. Filling Station brings us back to the 50s when leather jackets and mop tops were all the fad. The restaurant is decorated in classic American diner style, complete with checkered floors and acrylic chairs. Their menu is also pretty retro, with milkshakes in vanilla, strawberry or chocolate flavors ( P295), Chicken and Waffles (P360), All American Burger ( P463) and DiMaggio’s Early Riser hotdog ( P435).

5. El Chupacabra

Tex-Mex food can really fill you up, and here’s one place in Makati that opens late. There are tacos, burritos, and quesadillas in addition to some local dishes like pork sisig done the American way ( P292). If you’re here with a large group, order the Burrito, Enchilada and taco platter ( P623). There’s also a pretty full bar serving Tequila, cocktails, beer, wine and more.

6. Borough

Those with a sweet tooth will totally understand this. Sometimes your sugar cravings go on overdrive in the wee hours and there’s not a single bakery or cake shop open, except of o course, Borough. Apart from treating yourself to a slice of their Red Velvet or S’mores cakes, you can also order from their savory menu, which consists of burgers and sandwiches, pasta and mains. Don’t miss their Shitake Goat Cheese Ravioli ( P490) and Tilapia Artichoke Puttanesca ( P480).
